Questions
What counts as a credit?
One credit is one record returned: an event, class, camp, place or organization, including records inside search results. Add-ons cost extra credits, as shown in the table. Requests that return nothing, errors and 304 Not Modified responses are free, and so are coverage and status.
What happens when I run out?
Credits are prepaid, so you never spend more than you loaded. When the balance runs out, or a key reaches the credit limit you set for it, requests stop with a clear error that says which limit you reached. There is no surprise overage and no automatic top-up. Buy more credits or raise the key limit and you are running again.
Do credits expire?
Credits you buy never expire. The free 2,000 expire 60 days after you sign up.
Can I store what I get back?
Data-use terms, including how long you can cache results and what you can redistribute, will be published before launch. The plans above show the caching we intend to offer: 24 hours on Free and Pay as you go, 7 days on Sync. IDs can be kept as long as you like.
When do I need Sync?
When you want to keep your own copy of a city up to date instead of querying live: a calendar, a newsletter pipeline or an app with its own database. Sync includes the change feed, bulk export and 100,000 credits a month per city, with no rollover. Going past that is $1 per 1,000 only if you opt in; by default it stops at the allowance. Sync is a pilot for now.
