The problem
"Is it good for kids?" has no number today.
- Blurbs don't compare.Neighborhood write-ups can't be lined up address against address.
- Maps miss the programs.A map shows the park, not the weekly story time or the class that's enrolling.
- Families ask about weekends. They want to know what a Saturday looks like from the front door.
How to build it
A score, the neighborhood, a map.

Score the address
Send an address or a point. You get one 0 to 100 score that compares across addresses and cities, the counts behind it, and a sentence you can print.
Try it in the playground{ "data": { "activity_score": 77, "percentile": null, "summary": "43 family events in the next 30 days within 1600 m (about 10.0 a week), across 45 places; 19 of them repeat weekly or monthly.", "components": { "events_30d": 43, "events_per_week": 10.03, "recurring_programs": 19, "classes": 2, "camps": 0, "places_total": 45, "nearest_park_m": 147, "nearest_playground_m": 296, "nearest_library_m": null, "free_share": 0.279, "weekday_weekend_split": { "weekday": 29, "weekend": 14 } }, "resolved_address": { "formatted": "1905 Locust St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA" } }, "meta": { "metro": "philadelphia", "radius_m": 1600, "days": 30 } } -
Show what is around it
Try it in the playground/aroundgroups what is nearby the way a family reads a neighborhood: happening soon, recurring programs, classes, camps and places, each with walk minutes.{ "data": { "location": { "formatted_address": "1905 Locust St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA", "neighborhood": { "name": "Rittenhouse Square" } }, "results": { "happening_soon": { "returned": 1, "items": [ { "type": "event", "name": "Halloween Family Fun", "distance_m": 151, "walk_minutes": 2, "next_local": "2026-10-24T11:00:00" } ] }, "places": { "returned": 1, "items": [ { "type": "place", "name": "Rittenhouse Square", "type_hint": "park", "distance_m": 151, "walk_minutes": 2, "is_free": true } ] } } } } -

Key fields
What to put on the listing page.
- activity_score
- 0 to 100, absolute, and comparable across addresses, cities and over time.
- summary
- One sentence a listing page can print as it is.
- components
- The counts behind the score: events per week, recurring programs, classes, camps and places by type.
- nearest_park_m, nearest_playground_m
- Metres to the nearest park, playground, library and museum.
nullwhen there is none in the radius. - free_share
- Share of upcoming events that are free, 0 to 1.
- percentile
- Where the score falls against the metro.
nulluntil there is enough comparison data. - formatted_address
- What the address resolved to. Show it, since one street address can match two towns.
- walk_minutes
- Straight-line walk time at a stroller pace. A lower bound, never zero.
- coverage.hidden_nearby
- Rows nearby that this response cannot place on the map. Show it rather than calling the area quiet.

Questions builders ask.
Is the score comparable between cities?
Yes. activity_score is absolute, so the same number means the same amount of family life anywhere we cover.
When should I use /around, /activity or /nearby?
/activity is the one number. /around takes an address and returns grouped results with the score as a header. /nearby takes a point and returns a flat list by distance.
Does it include schools?
No. It covers family events, classes, camps and places such as parks, libraries, museums and play spaces.
How big is the circle?
About a mile (1600 m) by default. Set radius_m up to 16000 on /activity and /nearby, and up to 8000 on /around.
Is address lookup limited?
Address resolution counts toward your key's usage limits. If capacity is unavailable you get 429 with Retry-After. Sending lat/lng skips the lookup.
